Time with God

While I was going about my day I was filled with terrible guilt and shame. "Lord why am I feeling this way?", I asked. I was immediately filled with the desire to spend time with Him. After a while, He spoke to me and gave me this Verse,

“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.”
James 4:7-10

I was immediately filled with tears, God is so willing to speak to us all it is just unfortunate that not many want to listen. It is sad how not a lot of people know of the greatness of God. Many have not experienced the love of God, and that saddens my heart. If everyone was sensitive to His voice, to His word, to His love everything would be different. I was quick to ask for forgiveness for my actions that may have gone against His word. I asked for forgiveness on my rebellious spirit that was not allowing Him to take control.
Who are we to know what is best for us? I often hear that term, "we know what's best for ourselves?" Although that may be true to a certain extent, I believe there is ONE who knows what is better. We make mistakes and often make the wrong decisions, but if we were to cling to Him, and if we were to depend on His guidance, we would never go wrong.
How many people have fallen by trusting their own instincts. We believe that if we are strong there is no possibility in us falling, when in reality God's word mentions how we can still fall even if we are strong. This is because we are still human, we are not God, we are human. We have to remember that God is the only one who will never make a mistake.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

I got up from my prayer with great physical strength, as if all God wanted me to do was speak to Him. I became so busy with my life, that I forget to spend time with the Maker of Life. I was listening to a preaching by Dr Gerald Jeffers titled Condemnation interferes with Intimacy. Powerful. He goes about explaining how sometimes we just need to spend time with God instead of condemning everyone who isn't following Him. He states "You are so busy with the work of the Lord, that you have not spent time with the Lord of the work."

This is true, how often do we find ourselves working hard to make our ministries perfect, yet we do not try to perfect our relationship with God. It's important to spend quality time with God every single day, I encourage you to stand up and take hold of each promise He has given you. To continue trying no matter what obstacle you may face. To take a moment each day and set it aside for you and the Lord.

I wrote a lesson titled "It's not Over". I truly felt as if God was pushing me to write about this, so I chose to put in lesson form. It can be found under the Lessons Tab. I hope you are blessed by it, and if it is speaking to you like it spoke to me, remember that God is able. I hope you all have a blessed day.
