God Understands

"Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding."
 -Isaiah 40:28

On Mother's day, a family of five, (two adults and three children), woke up early with the intentions of going to Disneyland. They sat in their car, at a stop sign, at 6:55 a.m. In that instant, a van came at full speed and crashed into them. This was a head on collision, and the van landed on top of the car due to the impact. The family was pronounced dead, and the single driver in the van came out with minor injuries.

There are many situations that make us question whether God was truly present. Many people may ask, Why did this happen? Why to the entire family? I know I sat there wondering why. Even thinking about it makes me sad. It is crazy how in an instant our lives can be taken away. It is tragic, and we may never understand why it happened, but God does. There are many things that happen in this world that often raise questions about God's existence.

When we go through difficult situations it is easy to blame everything on God, and it is easy to doubt Him ever being present.

Isaiah 40:28 states, that "no one can measure the depths" of God's understanding. We do not know what God knows, and we can not see what He sees. In fact, when Samuel went to look for the one God had chosen as the next king, he was quick to judge by appearance. Then, the Lord reminded Samuel that He does not see things the same way Samuel sees them.

1 Samuel 16:7 "But the LORD said to Samuel, "Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The LORD doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Although He is talking about appearance, this can be applied to everything else in life. When trouble strikes, we must remember that God is not seeing the situation as we are. It is easy to blame and look at things negatively, but for everything God has a reason. We may see our world falling apart, but God sees His child being molded and strengthened. He does not make something happen to us because He wants to torture us.

Although we may not be able to understand why certain things happen in this life, we must be willing to trust in the everlasting God.

This can be difficult. Especially when you begin to feel like your life is falling apart. We may not be dealing with the loss of a loved one, but whatever it may be God can only understand why we are dealing with that particular thing. We must remember that God never gives us something we will not be able to overcome.

One time as I was speaking to one of my closest friends, she mentioned to me that God will not give me anything I can't handle. I remember laughing and saying that God must think I am extremely strong for allowing me to go through everything I go through.

One thing I never get tired of saying is that, If we try to do things with our own strength, we will not be able to overcome. It is only with the help of the Lord that we can overcome any situation.

How can we doubt the Creator of the earth. He is the one who formed this world. How can we doubt the One who made us. We begin to loose sight of Him, when we focus on other things. We begin to question Him, when we trust in our own strength, but He is still there never growing weary or tired. While we find ourselves in misery, He is watching over us saying, "Trust Me my child. You may not understand now, but you will."

There are many who, during a heartbreak, can not seem to understand why things didn't work out. They don't understand until God guides them to the correct person. It is then, that they understand. Sometimes things are taken away from us because they are simply in the way of what is truly meant for us.

So next time we begin to question God on why He does things, let us trust that He simply knows better than us. Remember that to you it may seem like the end of the world, but to the everlasting God, it is only the start of something new.

Is there something you are going through that is making you question God? Today is the day to leave your worries behind, and trust in Him.
