"Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying."
Life is a roller coaster of emotions. Sometimes we are up, others we are down, and often we are thrown upside down. You never know what's coming, and just as something good comes, a terrible ugly tries to intervene and take control.
That is the mystery with life, you just never know what is going to come popping out next. As Forest Gump's mama always said, "life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gunna get."
It is pretty frustrating when I try to get a caramel filled chocolate and somehow end up with a coconut filled one. It can be disappointing, but life is more than just a box of chocolates. We often get stuck in situations we didn't sign up for.
Romans 12:12 encourages us to be patient. Although it may be difficult to do when all we can think about is the difficulty of our situation, it is important to remember who you have your hope in.
By placing your hope in God, you are filled with a new outlook. You begin to understand that although something hurtful is happening, it is only for the better.
How can we attain this confident hope? Through prayer and by constantly seeking the Lord's presence. Sometimes we will feel unmotivated, but it is through those times, that we must keep trying harder.
We are human, and we do worry. Some people worry a lot. Whether they will get a certain job, how everything will work out, passing exams? We often stress ourselves out, and we forget that God is in control.
Many enter their new life in Christ believing that they will no longer encounter trouble. That is why they run at the brink of trouble. Just because we are walking with Christ it does not mean that we will never face trials. We do however see every trouble we encounter with new strength because we believe that God is bigger than our troubles. We may live in this world, but we are not of this world. We live in this world with a new set of rules. We live in it with a new goal, We live in this world with our eyes on a merciful, loving, and Almighty God. A God who will not let us drown in our struggles.
When you encounter trouble or disappointment, remember that God is making a new way. You are being molded into a new person. He is a mighty God, and nothing or no one can defeat Him, and if you are with Him, then rest assured that you will not be defeated either.
"For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland."
Don't loose hope. Hold on to Christ, hold on to His word, hold on to the confident hope you have in Him. He will not disappoint you. Many things in this world will disappoint but not Christ.
You may be holding on to disappointments, heartaches, or unfortunate events from your past, but it is time to let go of the past and leave it where it belongs. You will never be able to move on if you are still holding on to past disappointments.
Whatever struggle you may be facing, don't give up. Whatever your need, cry out to Jesus. Thank Him at all times. Hold on, and don't let go. Remember who you belong to. You are not a daughter or son of an unsure God. God knows what He is doing, so trust that there is a reason for everything.
"We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed."
-2 Corinthians 4:8-9
