Devotion: Let Them See You In Me

"As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person." -Proverbs 27:19
What is your immediate thought when you look at your reflection? For some it may not be very positive. Some focus only on their imperfections that they ignore every single good physical trait.

Now if I were to ask you what your heart reflected, what would your answer be? Is your heart filled with hatred. Is it filled with sorrow, or is it filled with resentment towards something or someone who hurt you in your past?

The main question I want to ask you today, and the one I want you to truly reflect on is, "Are people seeing Christ when they see you"? When you speak, when you sing, when you walk, are people seeing Christ?

Reflecting Christ
What does it mean to reflect Christ? Let's take a look at a verse that explains what we should not be doing:

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will” - Romans 12:2
If we are trying to reflect Christ it means we are walking just like He did. This means we love what He loves and react the way He reacts. What we do, what we say, what we want, and what we seek should all be a reflection of Him. Even the extent of our longing should be just as His. How we love, how we accept, how we forgive, all of these should be as strong as His are.

How Can I Let Others See Christ in Me?
In order to get a good understanding of how Christ loves and forgives, you must read it all in His word. Read His word daily, so you can live how God lived daily. You will then understand His great love for all people, and you will be able to mirror that entirely. Once you fill your heart with the Word of God and with the love of God, you are well on your way to reflecting God.

How can we show others who Christ is, if there is absolutely nothing in us that proves that he is alive and real. Let your life be a testimony to those who come in contact with you. May they experience His love and forgiveness through you. May they feel His comfort through your prayers. May they experience His love through your ministries.

You will notice that things that used to bother you before, do not bother you any longer. You will begin to see the world through God's eyes. This means that you will see the deep need for God in this world.

Be willing to let everything go in order to feel God in your life. Be willing to abandon your own needs and desires and fully take in what Christ wants in you.

As we read in Romans 12:2, Do not conform to the patterns of this world. Cleanse yourself daily and ask God to give you His eyes. Ask Him to give you His love for others. Ask Him to give you the ability to forgive.

Every day when you wake up ask God to let people see Him in you. Always ask Him to show you what is in you that isn't allowing others to see Him.

Can people see that their is something different in you?  I encourage you to take a deep look within and examine your life and your motives...

Can people see that their is something different in you?  I encourage you to take a deep look within and examine your life and your motives, Examine why you are serving God in your ministries. Is it to exalt yourself or to exalt Christ. Feel free to question your motives for everything in your life. Why are you in the relationship you are in? Is it to glorify God through it. Why are you following the career you are in? is it to exalt God in your career? Is your overall desire to please God?

Once you are able to say yes to all of these question you are well on your way to being a true and pure reflection of God.

  1. Encouraging post and very confronting! But makes us reflect about who we really represent in this world to others. And we are called to have the character of Jesus Christ. Love it!
