Making Everything Around You Beautiful

I am an observer. I have always been, and I find peace in that. I observe things. I look to my surroundings, and sometimes I make my own conclusions. Other times, I seem to somehow be correct in my conclusions. I am the type of person that watches a movie and already has her own ending in her head. I reach over to my husband and whisper in his ear, "I know what's going to happen.." and amused he asks me to tell him. I am a person who sometimes reads the last page in a book before reading the first, and I admit I am not very proud of that one.

But somehow all of this does not phase me.

I am also a strong believer of seeing things as more than they actually are. I tend to believe in the best of things. One of my most used phrases, "All things happen for a reason". Another one, "Things will get better". I do admit that I am not this super positive person all the time. I struggle.

There are days where I feel like I can conquer anything that comes my way, but then there are days where I feel defeated. These types of days are the ones I like to call "One of those days". However I did go through a tough stage where "one of those days" started happening every day. I used my observing skills, but only to conclude that everyone was against me and that God didn't like me. I'll be honest and admit that these were the hardest days of my life because I no longer felt the desire to even live another day.

God has given us each day as a gift. What we do with them is up to us. How we handle our day is up to us. We can choose to make the most of every situation, or we can choose to step down and stay defeated. How we see things will determine the kind of people we are, and it will even determine the kind of day we will live.

"And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." -Philippians 4:8
The word of God calls us to think about lovely things that are admirable and right and pure. We may ask ourselves, "well how is this even possible?". Truth is, it's not simple. It takes a lot of willpower and a lot of patience.

But the only way to make your life beautiful is to see all things beautifully.
God has made all things with perfection. If something isn't necessarily going your way, maybe it's time to stop, take breather, and ask God for guidance.

You are in control of your thoughts and your emotions. You are in control of how you handle life. Just like following Jesus is a personal choice, so seeing things in a positive way is also a personal choice.

What are a few things you are thankful for in this day?
